Here is an image of M13 taken with the Orion StarShoot Deep sky imager at the f/10 focus of the CPC-1100 EdgeHD telescope. Stars are recognized as contiguous “paint-fills” of bright pixels starting from an arbitrary bright pixel. Even worse: no alternative skins are available and a nice ‘Night Vision’ utility like has no control over the skin either: it remains too bright. Longer would be better but 20 mins is a fairly practical limit. The blue background is moonlight scattered off the atmosphere just like sunlight makes the sky look blue in the daytime. Heat generated by the electronics is quickly pumped out of the camera. Follow that by adjusting the star spread to fill out most of the area of the stars. He could give you insights to using such a setup that few of us here can, as he has regular first hand experience.
Your current setup is great for planets, but deep sky is a whole different set of problems. I am looking for advice specifically on what are some of the better CCD (or CMOS) deep sky cameras around a certain price point and compatible with Hyperstar.
